So I was just talking to my friend Zach about bands and stuff, and got talking about how we got into punk.
For me, my cousin gave me a borrow of Ixnay on the Hombre by The Offspring, back when I was in primary school (Year 5 I think)! From there, I went to discover Pennywise, NOFX, epitaph, fat wreck... and now over 11/12 years on I'm where I am.
It's funny to think I absolutely hate Pennywise now, but sometimes it's interesting to think what I'd be like if my cousin hadn't gave me the offspring cd for a listen.
Anyways, what "did it" for you?

I got into Nirvana in year 7, Bishop Gore. Then over the years, reading about them and whatnot I checked out the bands they'd played with and got influenced by and that's how I got into Black Flag. From there really is where the rest came. Actually, I got into Fugazi because I watched the Chili Peppers play the intro to 'Latest Disgrace' off the Red Medicine album. Good times!

mine sounds kind of fairy tale like. when i was about 6/7 my father gave me two 12" LPs for my first record player - one was Queen Greatest Hits I, the other was Nevermind The Bollocks.
it took a couple of years, it wasnt as if i was a mohican/leather jacket clad bootboy at the age of 8, and i had a few years of Nirvana etc - but it all came good in the end.

thankfully, tony hawk's pro skater 2 introduced me to some fantastic bands (millencolin, bad religion, lagwagon, swingin' utters, etc) and dragged me out of my cringeworthy nu-metalllz phase. I was about 11 at the time. a few punk-o-rama's/fat wreck comps later and here I am today.
like many others I also had a dodgy nirvana phase!
